WHAT TO EXPECT
Career Advisement
You should come to the workshop prepared to briefly discuss your training with a Career Advisor. A Career Advisor will be available to assist you in updating your resume based on the training you received. Updating your resume to reflect your training will help to make you more marketable to employers.
Job Screening
Once your resume has been updated, you will meet with an Account Manager. He/she will review your updated resume and refer you to interviews for job opportunities that best match your skills and employment goal.
Support from the Workforce1 Career Center
Once you leave the Center, Career Advisors and Account Managers will be available to help you with all the necessary steps towards reaching employment. Workforce1 Career Center staff will be contacting you to learn about your new job, and to inform you of additional job opportunities and job-readiness workshops at the Center, such as:
  • Interviewing Skills workshops
  • Computer workshops
  • Hiring Events that match your skills and interests
When you get a job, call your Career Advisor to let him/her know!

To participate in a workshop, you will need to bring the following:
  • Workforce1 Career Center Membership Card
  • Electronic copy of your resume - email your copy to your email address for easy access!
  • Information about the occupational training you received.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is a Training...Now What? workshop?
Training...Now What? workshops allow customers to update their resumes with skills learned in training and to be screened for job opportunities that match their skills and employment goals.
Q: Who is eligible to attend Training...Now What? workshops?
All customers who have received ITGs and are currently enrolled in or completed training may attend the workshops. In order to participate in the workshop, all customers must come prepared with electronic copies of their resumes.
Q: How do I sign up for the workshop?
If you receive an ITG, you will sign up for the workshop when you pick up your voucher at the Workforce1 Career Center. If you have already picked up your voucher or completed your training and did not sign up for the workshop, contact the Workforce1 Career Center to register for the workshop.
Q: Where will my workshop be held?
Your workshop will be held at your Workforce1 Career Center. You can find the date, time and specific location on your appointment card you received when you signed up for the workshop.
Q: What will I do in the workshop?
In the workshop, you will update your resume with the skills you learned in your occupational training. Career Advisors will be available to assist you with this task. After you have updated your resume to reflect your new set of skills, you will meet with Account Managers to learn about available job opportunities in the center that match your skills, interests and employment goal.
Q: What will I need to bring with me to the workshop?
All customers must bring their Workforce1 Career Center Membership Card and an electronic copy of their resumes. Customers should email a copy of their resume to their email address. Additionally, they should be prepared to write about and/or discuss the occupational training they just completed.
Q: I scheduled my appointment for a workshop when I picked up my voucher. Why am I receiving phone calls and/or emails from Workforce1 Career Center staff?
Workforce1 Career Center staff will be contacting you to find out how your job search is going, to inform you of existing job opportunities at the center and to remind you of your scheduled workshop. If you have a preference for how you wish to be contacted (email, phone), please let your Career Advisor know.
Q: I signed up for a workshop but I do not have a resume. Can the Workforce1 Career Center help me?
Before attending a workshop, you must have an electronic copy of your resume. You can sign up for a resume workshop at the Workforce1 Career Center to learn about how to create a marketable resume.
Q: What do I do if I miss my scheduled workshop?
If you miss your workshop, you will need to re-schedule. Call a Workforce1 Career Center to sign up for the next available workshop.
Q: What do I do after the workshop?
After you have attended a workshop, your resume will be updated to reflect skills you learned in training. You will be referred to interviews, so it is important that you are prepared to be successful. If you want additional help preparing for your interviews, ask a Career Advisor about the interview preparation workshops available at the center.
