Success Story - Janice Hamilton
Prior to seeking services from the Brooklyn Workforce 1 Career Center, Janice Hamilton last worked for ABC, Inc. as Computer Network Administrator when she was laid off in June 2007.

In Aug 2007, Ms. Hamilton visited the Workforce 1 Career Center in order to seek advice on getting a new job. Although Ms. Hamilton was eager to work at that time, she did not have the necessary job skills to advance in her career. She was specifically interested in a Network Administrator position, but it required more up-to-date IT expertise than she possessed at the time.

After an employment and training assessment, Ms. Hamilton and her career advisor determined that an “MCSE 2003” Networking course would allow her to upgrade her skills and make her more competitive to prospective employers.

The Brooklyn Workforce1 assisted Ms. Hamilton secure an ITG training voucher where she was able to attend the ACE Career Training Center free of charge.

Ms. Hamilton completed the training in February 2008. Confident with her new abilities and credential, she landed a job with the NYU Medical Center, making 5% more than in her last job.
